UBONM business advocacy brings independent New Mexico business owners together to protect their businesses, stay informed, and ensure they have a voice in the decisions that affect them.
We believe businesses that are operating legally should have a fair opportunity to succeed without constantly changing rules, inconsistent enforcement, or unnecessary restrictions making it harder to operate.
OUR STORY: UBONM BUSINESS ADVOCACY
Our leadership is made up of local business owners who have spent the last decade navigating New Mexico’s changing regulatory landscape, beginning in cannabis and hemp and later expanding into other regulated industries.
For years, we tried navigating those challenges on our own. Then we started working with other local businesses facing the same issues and saw what could happen when business owners organized, shared information, attended hearings, and spoke with one voice.
Together, we helped push back against restrictive legislation and local ordinances that threatened our ability to operate.
That experience led to United Business Owners of New Mexico: bringing businesses together, keeping them informed, and giving them a stronger voice when decisions affecting their future are being made.
WHY WE EXIST
Too often, laws and regulations affecting New Mexico businesses are written, changed, or enforced without enough input from the people who actually have to operate under them. UBONM exists to change that.
Rules Change Too Fast
New laws, regulations, and local ordinances can develop quickly and sometimes without enough input from the businesses they affect. UBONM helps members stay informed and gives business owners a stronger opportunity to participate in that process.
Rules Are Not Always Enforced Fairly
Inconsistent enforcement creates confusion and uncertainty for businesses trying to follow the law. We advocate for rules that are clear, reasonable, and applied fairly.
Unfair Product Restrictions
Legal products and entire business categories can face restrictions that threaten sales, inventory, jobs, and long-term planning. We believe regulations should be based on evidence, public safety, and practical realities, not misinformation.
WHY YOUR INVOLVEMENT MATTERS
Government agencies, large organizations, and major industries have people representing their interests. Independent business owners need a strong voice too.
When business owners stand together, it becomes much harder for their concerns to be ignored.
